Peoria, IL – Fatal Crash Follows Aggravated Discharge

Peoria, IL – A tragic incident unfolded in Peoria on Wednesday after an aggravated discharge incident escalated into a fatal crash. According to the Peoria Police Department, the chain of events began with a ShotSpotter alert at around 10:51 pm in the 2200 block of W Ann St, indicating gunfire.

Following the alert, officers observed a vehicle, driven by 51-year-old Vanda C. Terrell, speeding away from the scene. This vehicle later ran a stop sign at Blain and Butler, colliding with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle, an adult male, was fatally injured in the crash and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Terrell, who is set to face multiple charges including Aggravated Reckless Discharge and DUI, remains hospitalized. A handgun linked to the shooting was found near the crash site. Additionally, Edwardo Toral, 28, a passenger in Terrell’s vehicle, was arrested on unrelated warrants.
