Indiana Interstate Tragedy: Driver Shot and Killed in I-80/94 Road Rage Incident

Lake Station, IN – An early morning road rage incident on I-80/94 leads to a fatal shooting.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. when they received a call about a road rage situation on westbound I-80/94, which subsequently resulted in a shooting. Concurrently, reports of a single-vehicle crash on the same highway at the 12.8 mile-marker were filed. The caller, involved in the incident, stopped his vehicle on I-65, near 61st Ave, a short distance from the shooting location. Upon arrival, troopers discovered the vehicle’s driver deceased with injuries indicative of a gunshot wound.

The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division, alongside Crime Scene Investigators from the Lowell Post, are actively investigating the case. The individual who reported the incident is currently detained at the Lake County Jail, awaiting further examination by detectives. 

The deceased’s identity remains undisclosed until the Lake County Coroner’s Office completes the necessary processes and notifies next of kin. An investigation is ongoing.
