Indiana Man Arrested for Trying to Enter Off-Duty Officer’s Car, Charged with Marijuana Possession While Intoxicated

Rensselaer, IN – An unusual encounter led to the arrest of 48-year-old Matthew Kellogg after he allegedly attempted to enter an off-duty officer’s vehicle in Rensselaer. 

According to police reports the incident unfolded shortly after 4:00 a.m. on March 29, 2024, when Kellogg approached the marked patrol car and tried to gain entry while the officer was still inside. Suspected of intoxication, Kellogg was allegedly found with a baggie that appeared to contain marijuana. 

Kellogg faces charges of public intoxication and possession and has been booked into Jasper County Jail, with the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
