Shelby County, IN – A tragic incident occurred Monday afternoon on Interstate 74 when a van crashed into a bus carrying nine passengers.

At approximately 2:00 PM, Indiana State Police were called to the scene at the 112 mile marker of the eastbound lanes. The van’s driver, identified as 52-year-old Jason Huber from Boggstown, Indiana, was found unconscious and later pronounced deceased.

Initial reports reveal that traffic had halted for unspecified reasons when Huber’s Dodge van collided with the stopped charter bus. While the bus passengers sustained no serious injuries, nine chose to visit the hospital for evaluations. The crash led to a two-hour closure of the eastbound lanes for investigation and cleanup.

The ongoing investigation involves multiple agencies, including the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Inspectors and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
