Washington County, IN – A high-speed chase that began on State Road 135 in Indiana ended with the arrest of a Clarksville man on multiple alleged felony charges.

According to Indiana State Police, it began Monday morning, when troopers initiated a traffic stop for speeding, which quickly escalated into a vehicle and foot pursuit across Washington County. Troopers attempted to stop a black 2010 Ford Fusion for exceeding the speed limit around 11:20 AM. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Anthony Arnold of Clarksville, initially appeared to comply but suddenly reportedly accelerated through a residential yard, reentering the highway and leading authorities on a chase. Arnold’s alleged attempt to evade capture continued onto several roads before he abandoned his vehicle near Strickland Road and fled on foot across Blue River, only to be apprehended shortly after in an open field by Trooper Simcoe.

Arnold was later found wanted in Clark County for serious charges, including allegations of Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Burglary, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Following the pursuit, Arnold also faces charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle and Resisting Law Enforcement. Arnold was taken to Washington County Jail after receiving medical clearance.
