Indiana Man Missing Since Friday Found Deceased Sunday in Versailles Lake

Indianapolis, IN – After an extensive search, the body of Carson Hughes, 18, of Osgood, Indiana, was recovered from Versailles Lake by Indiana Conservation Officers. Hughes had been missing since Friday, prompting a large-scale search effort.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Hughes was found at 6:50 p.m. on March 17. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner, with an investigation into the cause of death pending autopsy results. 

The discovery concludes days of searching after Hughes’s kayak was located near the boat ramp at Versailles Lake within Versailles State Park. The search employed sophisticated sonar technology and included numerous agencies and volunteer groups.
