Indiana Mental Health Bomb Threat Averted, Man Charged with Attempted Murder

East Chicago, IN – A potential crisis was averted at the Regional Mental Health Center due to the prompt actions of the East Chicago Police Department. 

According to police reports it happened on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, when officers responded to a bomb threat at the facility, reportedly made by Torrence Lindsey-Bynum. The threat was reportedly extended to other similar facilities as well.

Lindsey-Bynum was apprehended at the scene, where he initially resisted arrest. A search of his vehicle uncovered an AR-15 rifle, a loaded 9mm handgun, and additional ammunition. 

Lindsey-Bynum faces charges including one count of Attempted Murder and several Level 5 Felony counts for intimidation and unlawful carrying of a handgun.
