Indiana Traffic Stop Unveils Meth, Two Arrested on Multiple Charges

RENSSELAER, IN — A routine patrol escalated into a significant arrest on November 2, when a Jasper County Sheriff’s Sergeant flagged down a white Cadillac in Indiana for suspicious plates. 

According to Jasper County Sheriff’s Department reports the incident led to the apprehension of two local men, Steve E. Hughes, 45, and Ronald L. Magers, 38, on multiple drug-related charges. Hughes was detained on an outstanding warrant, while Magers was allegedly found with methamphetamine, prescription pills, a glass smoking device, and marijuana. 

The suspects were booked into the Jasper County Detention Center, with Magers facing a level 5 felony charge for meth possession among other misdemeanors.
