Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) battled a significant blaze at Buffalo Creek Apartments, located at 624 Buffalo Club Drive, resulting in the displacement of 18 occupants from 12 units.

According to IFD, the fire, which started in an upstairs unit, quickly spread to the attic, leading to a partial roof collapse. This prompted the IFD Command to order all units to evacuate the structure for safety.

The incident, which occurred around 12:19 PM, saw two IFD firefighters sustain minor injuries, one due to heat and the other from ceiling debris impact. Both were transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment. Additionally, two occupants of the apartments suffered slight injuries, with one being transported to Community Hospital South.

In a remarkable display of bravery, IFD firefighters successfully rescued several pets from the blaze and reunited them with their owners. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
