BOURBONNAIS – Region 6 is the latest Region in the state to hit mitigation marks set by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) that will require bars and restaurants to close indoor service beginning Monday.
Data released Friday shows a dramatic upswing in Region 6 data, showing a rise in patients positive since Sunday. Sunday marked the first day the region recorded a seven-day positivity above 8.0% going three days above the mark set by the state. Daily positivity for the region was 10.2% Tuesday with the seven-day mark set at 8.6%.
In the last week, IDPH reports 23,560 residents in Region 6 had been tested with 2,033 positive results. The results do not include tests administered at the University of Illinois.
Region 6 includes Champaign, Iroquois, Ford, Vermillion, Macon, Douglas, Edgar, Clark, Shelby, Clay, Coles, Cumberland, Richland, Lawrence, Clark, Crawford, Jasper, Effingham, Fayette, Moultrie, Piatt, and De Witt counties.
Friday afternoon, IDPH reported 6,943 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 36 additional deaths. There have now been a total of 402,401 cases, including 9,711 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois during the pandemic.
