BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Jaenicke’s Drive-In, the beloved seasonal restaurant, opened its Bourbonnais location on March 2nd to an impressive turnout of visitors. The business, which had been closed for its seasonal break since September 2022, drew a line of hundreds of cars on the day waiting for a special meal on Thursday afternoon.
The Bourbonnais location at 605 Armour Road followed the opening of the Kankakee location on February 24th. Owners of the Kankakee location had reported selling out of multiple menu items on the opening night, closing early and apologized for the inconvenience and promised to be up and running the next day.
Thursday’s opening marked the first time Jaenicke’s had been open since the end of last season, and customers were excited to get their first taste of the popular hot and cold treats alike.
Jaenicke’s Drive-In has long been a staple of the area, with locations in both Bourbonnais and Kankakee. The restaurant is known for its classic old-fashioned charm, making it a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
A long standing promotion at Jaenicke’s includes the popular Wiener Wednesday, where all hots are $2.59.
As the weather warms up and more people venture out of their homes, Jaenicke’s Drive-In is expected to draw even larger crowds in the coming weeks. Customers can look forward to enjoying their favorite menu items and reliving memories of summers past at this beloved Illinois institution.
