Jaywalking leads to Arrest of Kankakee Boy on Gun Charges

KANKAKEE, Ill. – A 14-year-old boy was arrested on gun charges after being stopped by police for allegedly jaywalking in the 400 block of South Poplar on Sunday. 

The incident quickly escalated into a foot chase, with the young teen eventually being apprehended on South Lincoln.

During the pursuit, officers reportedly witnessed the boy discarding a handgun, which was later recovered. The authorities have charged him with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a person under 21, as well as resisting a police officer.

Due to his juvenile status, no name has been released at this time.
