NEW LENOX – Silver Cross Hospital was thrown into turmoil late Tuesday when an alarming bomb threat called in by an unidentified individual claimed devices were planted somewhere on the property, set to detonate within 20 minutes.

The call around 10:30 p.m. triggered a response from multiple area police departments. Bomb-sniffing K9 units from Will, Cook, and Dupage counties rushed to assist, systematically sweeping each floor.

The all-clear was finally given before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, but the investigation continues to unravel the motive behind the sinister threat.
