Kane County, IL – The Kane County Sheriff’s Office cautions against fraud in the aftermath of disasters. In a recent public service announcement, residents are advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the FEMA hotline.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, scam artists and identity thieves frequently target disaster survivors. They underscore the importance of recognizing official FEMA representatives and not sharing personal information with unverified individuals. The Sheriff’s Office reinforces the need to consult local media and law enforcement to stay informed and protect one’s identity.
