Kankakee County BP Gas Station Damaged by Semi-Truck Crash

Momence, IL – A semi-truck crashed into a BP gas station on Friday afternoon, causing extensive damage to the facility located in Kankakee County.

According to the Momence Fire Protection District, the accident happened around 4:00 p.m. at the BP station at 807 N. Dixie Highway. Emergency responders from the Momence Fire Department and Riverside Ambulance were dispatched to the scene immediately after the incident. Upon arrival, they found the semi-truck had collided with the building, leaving the truck partially inside the gas station.

The MABAS Division 7 Technical Rescue Team and Hazmat Team were also called to assist. The driver of the semi was safely removed from the vehicle without the need for extrication, and no other injuries were reported. Beaupre Towing was requested to remove the semi from the building, which suffered significant structural damage.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The BP gas station remains closed while repairs and safety assessments are conducted.
