Woman Assaulted, Carjacked at Park near Kankakee Community College

KANKAKEE, IL – A shocking incident unfolded near Kankakee Community College, leaving a woman battered and her car stolen.

According to police reports it began Tuesday afternoon when a woman fell victim to a violent assault and carjacking. Reports indicate that the assailant brutally punched the woman in the face before later forcibly taking control of her vehicle, ripping her from the car as she tried to drive away.

Kankakee police swiftly responded to the incident, launching an investigation into the shocking assault and theft, making an arrest in the case a short time later.  

Mark Wadley, a 59-year-old Kankakee resident, allegedly took the vehicle to Joliet before later returning to Bradley. Wadley was later taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular hijacking and aggravated battery.
