Kankakee County, IL – Residents in Kankakee County and surrounding areas should remain on high alert this morning as the National Weather Service in Chicago reports continued risks of severe weather. Strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, hail up to 1 inch in diameter, and the possibility of a brief tornado are expected to persist through 11 AM CDT today.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, as the morning unfolds, communities should prepare for numerous storms with the strongest ones capable of significant impact. The advisory highlights the necessity for having multiple ways to get weather warnings and urges the public to move indoors at the first sound of thunder. 

The storm motion is northeast at 40-45 mph, affecting areas in both the orange and brown-shaded regions on the map, including parts of Kankakee County. Residents should follow all safety instructions and stay updated with the latest forecasts as the situation develops.
