Kankakee Fire Responds to Abandoned Building Blaze on North Schuyler Avenue

Kankakee, Illinois – The Kankakee Fire Department is conducting an investigation following a fire at an abandoned building on North Schuyler Avenue on Monday afternoon. 

Firefighters were dispatched to the site, located in the 600 block of North Schuyler, around 2:30 PM. Upon arrival, they encountered a significant blaze within the structure centered in the building’s basement. The fire was successfully extinguished with assistance from firefighters from neighboring communities. 

As of now, there are no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
