Kankakee, IL – City Approves $51,500 for Summer Fireworks; Seeks Sponsors

Kankakee, IL – During the recent Kankakee City Council meeting, officials approved a significant budget of $51,500 for summer fireworks celebrations, highlighting the community’s dedication to observing Juneteenth and the Fourth of July with vibrant displays. 

In the meeting, Mayor Chris Curtis specified the distribution of funds for summer festivities: $9,500 is earmarked for the Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 22, while $42,000 is allocated for the traditional Fourth of July celebration on Wednesday, July 4.

The city is actively seeking sponsors to support these eagerly anticipated events, emphasizing the opportunity for local businesses and individuals to contribute to the community’s festive spirit.
