Kankakee, IL –  A flood warning has been issued for the Kankakee area due to ice jams.

An ice jam developing near Schuyler Avenue Bridge in Kankakee has led the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning, effective through January 22. As of 11:17 AM CST today, the jam is causing rising water levels along the Kankakee River, threatening areas from Kankakee to Sun River Terrace, including Aroma Park.

Residents are advised to be vigilant as the jam could lead to flooding of adjacent properties and infrastructure damage. Public safety officials are monitoring the situation closely, with updates to follow on local conditions and safety measures.
