Kankakee, IL – Rare Disease Day Observance Highlights Childhood Impact

Kankakee, IL – In an effort to increase awareness about genetic rare diseases, Kankakee County Health Department commemorated Rare Disease Day on the unique date of February 29. 

Highlighting that 70% of such diseases begin in childhood, the health department joined a global movement to shed light on the challenges faced by affected families.

 According to the campaign’s information, the annual observance aims to foster a better understanding and support for over 25 million Americans living with rare diseases. More information can be found at www.rarediseaseday.org.
