WATSEKA, IL — A Kankakee man is being held on $7 million bond after being charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with a gruesome double homicide that transpired in Watseka last week.

The accused, 44-year-old Scott E. Peterson, was brought before the Iroquois County Court Friday, where his bond was set amid a tense legal proceeding. Peterson stands accused of the shooting deaths of 42-year-old Amanda Peterson, Peterson’s ex-wife, and 38-year-old Joseph Robinson. The incident unfolded at 346 W. North Street, leaving both victims dead at the scene.

Authorities also discovered Robinson’s 21-year-old son had been shot in the incident. The young man was promptly transported to Urbana’s Carle Hospital, where he is reportedly in stable condition.

Peterson now awaits his day in court, scheduled for August 23rd at 9:30 am.
