Knox County, IL – A group of teenagers has been charged after allegedly throwing concrete blocks from an overpass onto Interstate 74, causing damage to multiple vehicles.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office reported that this dangerous activity led to an extensive investigation, culminating in the arrest of three individuals: Mason Stone (19), Grant Oyler (18), and Hayden Herschelman (18). These suspects face charges including theft, burglary, criminal trespass to property, vehicular endangerment, and criminal damage to property.

The incident, which also involved pouring transmission fluid onto the interstate from an overpass, prompted the Sheriff’s Office to deploy additional resources and conduct surveillance to prevent further harm. The investigation revealed that the transmission fluid was stolen from a nearby business, adding to the severity of the charges.

Sheriff Jack C. Harlan Jr. highlighted the swift action taken by law enforcement to address the safety risk posed to the motoring public. The trio have been released pending their court appearance on March 13, 2024.
