La Porte, IN – The planned closure of State Road 39 over the Kankakee River Bridge, initially scheduled to begin on April 9, has been postponed.
According to an update from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, the closure is now set to start on April 22nd. The delay in the closure, which is due to a bridge deck overlay project, was announced just days before the expected start date.
Motorists are advised to plan for detours via State Road 8, U.S. 35, and U.S. 30. The construction is part of an ongoing effort to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure in the area.
