LaSalle County, IL – Ohio Man Arrested near Ottawa after Alleged 5000g of Cannabis Found on I-80

Ottawa, IL – An Ohio man faces serious charges after LaSalle County Sheriff’s deputies found 5000 grams of cannabis during a traffic stop on Interstate 80. 

The event, reported by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, occurred near mile marker 92 at about 12:15 am on March 31st, 2024. According to Sheriff Adam Diss, the driver, James B. Redmond, 60, of Rocky River, Ohio, has been charged with a Class X Felony for Trafficking Cannabis and a Class 1 Felony for Possession of Cannabis, each involving amounts of 5,000 grams or more. 

The arrest underscores the proactive measures taken by law enforcement in curbing the flow of illegal substances through the state.
