Fort Myers, FL – A road rage incident in Lee County escalated into a violent confrontation, leading to the arrest of a 27-year-old man now facing serious charges.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Wednesday night to the intersection of Penzance Boulevard and Caisson Lane after reports of an aggravated assault. Investigators say the incident began near Daniels Parkway when a driver delivering food was allegedly targeted by another motorist.

Authorities said the victim attempted to defuse the situation by pulling over to let the other driver pass. Instead, the suspect also stopped, approached the victim, and allegedly initiated a confrontation.

During the encounter, the suspect allegedly slapped the victim and displayed a handgun while threatening to shoot, according to deputies. Fearing for his safety, the victim returned to his vehicle and called 911.

Deputies quickly identified the suspect as Bobby Jones III, 27, using investigative techniques and located him shortly after the incident. He was taken into custody and booked into the Lee County Jail.

Jones is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. According to Sheriff Carmine Marceno, the agency takes incidents like this seriously and prioritizes public safety on local roadways.

The case remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
