Aurora, IL – Aurora Lions Club members, upholding their motto “We Serve,” dedicated their Saturday to serving the community at Hesed House homeless shelter in Aurora. The volunteers, a dozen in number, prepared and distributed approximately 200 lunches to the shelter residents. The meal, featuring hearty sloppy joe sandwiches, refreshing cole slaw, fruit cocktail, chips, and a cookie, was a welcome treat for the beneficiaries.

Among the volunteers at the men’s lunch were Joe Beary, Arvid Meyer, Ricky Riekert, Randy Brown, Tim Snyder, Jay Short, and Tom Muth. The women’s facility received the dedicated service of Susan Koepke, Carrie Snyder, and Jill Muth. Celebrating over a century of community service since its founding in 1922, the Aurora Lions Club continues to make significant contributions to local causes.

The Lions Club, renowned for being the world’s largest service club organization, has about 1.42 million members across more than 48,000 clubs globally. Their service focuses on critical areas such as hearing and vision impairment, hunger, environmental conservation, diabetes management, and supporting childhood cancer initiatives.

The Lions Clubs Foundation amplifies this impact, enabling local clubs to extend their humanitarian efforts since 1917. Those interested in community service can join the Aurora Lions Club, which meets bi-monthly at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Aurora.
