CHICAGO – U.S. House Representatives from across the area have issued statements this afternoon following their votes to impeach President Trump.
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) says it was a ‘sobering moment’ and says he’s ‘at peace’ after being one of just 10 Republicans to break rank and vote to impeach Trump. The vote will go down as the most bipartisan Impeachment ever in the history of the United States.
Representative Robin Kelly (IL-2) said Wednesday the President’s actions ‘amount to treason.’
“(Trump) incited a deadly insurrection against the American government to stop the peaceful transfer of power.” said Rep. Kelly in a statement after the vote. “Today, truth has triumphed over the blatant lies of this president and his enablers who sought to delegitimize a free and fair election. I am proud to have voted to expel this president from office. He is a clear and present danger to our nation.”
Joliet Representative Bill Foster (IL-11) urged the Senate after Wednesday’s vote to ‘convict and permanently remove’ Trump from office.
