BERWYN, IL – The Berwyn Police Department has issued a community alert through their official Facebook page, warning residents of a potential gathering at the North Riverside Park Mall this Saturday, April 22nd.
According to Berwyn Police Chief Michael D. Cimaglia, credible intelligence suggests that a gathering, similar to the one reported in Chicago last weekend, may result in public disturbances and acts of violence. Berwyn Police Department has been in contact with North Riverside and other neighboring jurisdictions to mitigate the potential risks associated with this gathering. Preventative measures are currently being implemented, and preparations for a unified response on Saturday are underway.
Berwyn residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to this gathering to the Berwyn Police Department. In an effort to ensure the safety of children, young adults, and families, the police department advises residents to consider this advisory before making any plans near the North Riverside Park Mall on Saturday.
“We are committed to collaborating with neighboring agencies to keep our community safe,” said Chief Cimaglia Wednesday. “We will be working to swiftly disperse participants, and ask you to avoid this area if at all possible.”
