A fire in a fryer at a local McDonalds caused the Plainfield Fire Protection District to respond to the restaurant off Route 59 in Plainfield last Friday morning.

The fire started just after 9:30 am.

According to reports, smoke bellowed from the roof area, through extended ductwork in the kitchen.  A fire suppression system activated inside the restaurant and it was extinguished by firefighters just before 10 am.

The restaurant closed briefly Friday for the fire before reopening later that afternoon.  Will County Health Department inspected the restaurant before it reopened.

No injuries were reported at the restaurant.
