SCHERERVILLE, Ind. – A GoFundMe has been set up for a woman and her 1-year-old recovering from an incredibly violent crash over the weekend.
On the evening of September 23, Amanda Wartman and her one-year-old, Violet, faced unimaginable terror as their car was ripped apart, ejecting baby Violet, who was still strapped to her car seat at the time. Miraculously, passing nurses rendered first aid, potentially saving the infant’s life.
The GoFundMe, created by Brett Wartman, has already amassed over $2,600 with a goal of $10,000. The funds aim to alleviate costs for the recovering mother and child.
“I started a GoFundMe page in the hopes that whatever costs that they have to bear from this tragedy might be eased through some donations,” Brett Wartman says in the fundraising effort. “The father is a hard working blue-collar UAW member and the mother is a stay at home mom that will still need to raise 2 children.” The heart-wrenching details and donation link can be found at the Wartman family GoFundMe.
Police believe alcohol and high speeds factored in the crash, with the other driver facing imminent charges.
