Indiana Horse, Buggy Driver Killed in Collision with Utility Truck

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, IN – A Nappanee woman and her horse were killed in a collision with a utility truck in Kosciusko County on Friday morning. 

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency personnel responded to the accident scene on County Road 800 West, just north of County Road 850 North, around 10:30 a.m. 

According to their investigation, a Ford F350 utility truck, driven by a 43-year-old Columbia City man, was following a dump truck when it collided with a horse-drawn buggy. 

Fannie Mae Bontrager, the driver of the buggy, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident remains under investigation.
