NEWTON, Ill. – The search for the missing Lutz family has come to a happy ending after over two months.
Stephen, Monica, Aiden, and Nicholas Lutz disappeared from Newton, Illinois, and were found safe in Cochise County, Arizona.
The family was located thanks to automated license plate readers and the Arizona State Police. After making contact with Monica and the boys, a deputy reported to Newton Police Chief Riley Britton that the boys appeared healthy and that Monica shared information on Stephen’s whereabouts. Britton then personally spoke with Stephen, who informed him that the family had relocated to Arizona and had no plans of returning to Newton.
The sudden disappearance of the Lutz family led to a community-wide search effort, and the discovery of their whereabouts has brought a sense of relief to everyone involved in the search. Newton Police expressed their gratitude to all those who assisted in finding the Lutzs, and Chief Britton expressed his relief that the family had been found safe.
