KANKAKEE – A Louisiana man was arrested last night after an argument on a bus lead to a gun arrest.
According to Kankakee City Police, officers were called to a hotel on Route 45/52 around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night after a man threatened a bus driver with a gun.
Reports say the man had been in an argument with passengers on a Greyhound bus and was asked to leave because he didn’t have a ticket. The man, later identified as 29-year-old Ralph Sewell III of Lake Charles, Louisiana, allegedly responded to the driver’s request saying he’d be back with the gun.
As City Police arrived at the hotel, they reported Sewell with the weapon near his car as the bus pulled away. Sewell then reportedly got in his car and followed the bus.
Shortly after, Police would pull Sewell over on Route 45/52. Sewell told officers he had the gun under his passenger’s seat.
Sewell was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was being held on $50,000 bond at the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee.
