WHEATFIELD – A man has been arrested on intimidation charges after allegedly attacking a vehicle with a Katana.
According to Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, it happened early morning on November 25th when a man leaving for work in a neighborhood noticed another man walking towards his vehicle with a 30” long sword.
The victim stated as his vehicle approached the man he drew the sword. The victim allegedly continued to drive around the man before a collision occurred resulting in the man laying in a nearby yard.
Police responding to reports of a pedestrian versus vehicle later located the suspect, 37-year-old Jeremy Zamarron in a nearby home. Zamarron told police at the time he thought people were trying to steal items from his residence and brought a broom out to investigate when he encountered the vehicle.
Police later recovered a damaged sword and sword tip near the roadway where the incident allegedly occurred.
“Deputies advised that while dealing with Jeremy Zamarron they were under the opinion that he was under the influence and/or experiencing delusions,” Jasper County Sheriff’s Office officials later said in a statement.
Zamarron was later arrested on Intimidation, a level 5 felony.
