Missouri Teen Charged with Murder following death of Indiana State Trooper

HENDRICKS COUNTY, IN – A teenager from Missouri is facing murder charges following the death of Indiana State Police Trooper Aaron Smith.

According to Indiana State Police Thursday, the June 28th incident occurred when a stolen 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Eddie Jones, Jr. 18, from Sikeston, struck Trooper Smith on Ronald Reagan Parkway. Jones Jr. has been charged with murder, while DeMareon Curry 19, from Sikeston is charged with auto theft. 

An unidentified missing 15-year-old girl was also in the vehicle at the time but has not been charged with any crime.  The case will be handled by the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office, determining final charging information.

Both men are now being held at the Hendricks County Jail.
