Kankakee Man Arrested for Threatening Woman with Loaded Shotgun, Held on $50,000 Bond

KANKAKEE, Ill. – A 35-year-old Kankakee man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after allegedly threatening to kill a woman during a heated argument.

According to reports, as tensions escalated, Terri Smith directed chilling threats towards her before disappearing into another room of their residence on North Saint Joseph Avenue. Moments later, Smith allegedly reappeared wielding a loaded shotgun, intensifying her fear for her life. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the victim dialed 911, and the authorities responded swiftly.

Kankakee City Police officers arrived promptly, apprehending Smith without incident. In the process, they secured the loaded shotgun and ammunition. Smith now faces charges of Aggravated Use of a Weapon without a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.

Smith’s Bond was set Thursday at $50,000.  He’s now being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee.
