Overnight Airlift in Illinois: Car vs. Semi Accident on I-55

TROY, IL – A car collided with a semi-truck on Interstate 55 overnight, resulting in a critical situation that required an airlift for one of the victims. 

According to reports it happened around 11:15 p.m. Thursday night on northbound I-55 in Troy, causing significant damage and prompting a swift response from emergency services.  Lifestar, the medical helicopter, was dispatched to the scene to transport a seriously injured individual to a nearby hospital. 

The collision caused I-55 to be shutdown for a time.  No word on what caused the accident or the condition of the victim. 

The incident remains under investigation.
