Body of Missing Man Found in Des Plaines River in Joliet, Illinois

JOLIET, Ill. – The body of a missing man was found Thursday afternoon in the Des Plaines River by workers near a barge on the river’s east bank, prompting a response from Joliet police. 

According to Joliet Police, officers responded to the scene 2:49 PM with the Joliet Fire Department swiftly recovered the deceased male, identified as 24-year-old Jason C. Bingham who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office. 

Bingham had been reported missing by his family to the Joliet Police Department on May 3, 2023. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation, with the cause of death to be determined by the coroner’s office.
