Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Responds to Storm Aftermath, Road Closures Reported

Waterloo, IL – Monroe County is grappling with significant road closures following a severe storm that has left several key routes underwater or blocked by debris. 

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with Emergency Management officials and local fire departments, is actively working to assess the safety of roads and implement necessary closures to ensure public safety. 

As of 2:30 PM, roads affected include Bluff Rd south from KK Rd, Baum Rd and Maeystown Rd, LL Rd outside Maeystown, the northbound lane of Rt. 3 near Groves Storage, and Chaplin Bridge. 

Authorities are urging residents and travelers to plan accordingly and allow extra travel time. Updates on road openings will be provided as they become available.
