BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left his girlfriend, a child, and a man dead Sunday night.
Police responded to a call at a residence in the 100 block of Lee Lane at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Bolingbrook Police Department. Upon arrival, they discovered two adults and two children had been shot.
Cartez L. Daniels, 40, and Samiya A. Shelton-Tillman, 17, were identified as two of the victims by the police. They were waiting for positive identification of the child who died.
A woman and a child were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the child later died, while the woman’s condition has stabilized.
The two other children in the home at the time of the shooting, a 3-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy, were not injured.
Police arrested the 17-year-old boy, who was in a relationship with Shelton-Tillman, approximately two hours after the incident. They believe he acted alone and was responsible for the shootings.
Authorities are working with the Will County state’s attorney’s office to file charges against the suspect, who has not been identified. The police believe that the shooting was a “domestic-related” home invasion, although they did not provide further details about the incident.
