Man arrested in Beecher shooting incident, held on $5 million bond

BEECHER, Ill. — Authorities have taken a 57-year-old man into custody following an investigation into a shooting incident that took place on January 30th in the 200 block of Woodward Street in Beecher. 

Mark Eugene, a resident of Olympia Fields, was arrested by the Beecher police and has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and for being a felon in possession of a weapon.

According to the police report, Eugene and the victim allegedly knew each other and were involved in a confrontation that escalated into a shooting. The victim, whose name has not been released, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. 

Eugene is currently being held on $5 million bond.

The Beecher Police Department has urged anyone with additional information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The case remains under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
