BRADLEY – Illinois libraries are providing a platform for independent authors to showcase their talent through a local author contest.

The Bradley Public Library District is collaborating with the Illinois Author Project to accept submissions of adult and young adult fiction. Winners in each category will receive $2,000 and will be recognized as the top indie-published eBooks in Illinois.

The winning authors will be honored at the 2023 Indie Author Day Reception and will receive opportunities to promote their work at Illinois public libraries. They will also be featured in a full-page spread in the Library Journal, one of the oldest and most prestigious trade publications for library news. Furthermore, they will be eligible to earn royalties through the IAP Select collection, with ePUB format required for eligibility.

The Illinois Author Project not only provides a chance for librarians to engage with a growing group of fresh literary voices, but also an opportunity to play an active role in discovering and promoting new works.

For indie-published authors, the contest is an excellent opportunity to elevate their careers and expand their readership. The award and its perks offer recognition, credibility, and visibility in the growing marketplace of digital content and indie-published books. Winning authors will reach hundreds, if not thousands, of new readers through the library, and can leverage their award-winning status for additional marketing opportunities.

All submissions must be independently-published and fall into the category of adult or young adult fiction. The author must be an Illinois resident, and the book must be available in either ePUB or PDF format.

The contest will be accepting submissions from April 1, 2023, through May 31, 2023. Authors can submit their entries at https://indieauthorproject.librariesshare.com/Illinois.
