Early morning Semi pile up, spilling grain, shuts down I-55 SB

CHICAGO – A major crash early Wednesday morning shut down a portion of I-55.

According to reports it happened on Southbound I-55 near Mile Marker 248 when multiple semis collided in the area causing heavy damage to both, spilling grain across the roadway.

No details have yet to be released on how many vehicles were involved in the wreck or condition of any one in the vehicles.

I-55 was shut down near Channahon.  Police ask residents to avoid the area.
