COAL CITY, Ill. – A woman has been charged with Disorderly Conduct/Misuse of 911, a class four felony, after allegedly calling 911 eight times over the span of two hours.

Sarah Woycheck-Jablonski, 36, was arrested by the Coal City Police Department on March 11th in the 100 block of East Oak Street.

According to Grundy County court records, Woycheck-Jablonski allegedly repeatedly called 911 requesting to speak to a female police officer and asking for a piece of paper related to a vehicle. The calls were made over a two-hour period, prompting law enforcement to take action.

Misusing 911 can tie up emergency lines and potentially prevent others in need from getting through. It is a serious offense that can result in a criminal charge. In Illinois, misuse of 911 can result in a class four felony charge, which carries a possible sentence of one to three years in prison and a maximum fine of $25,000.

Woycheck-Jablonski is currently free on bond, but the charge against her serves as a reminder to use 911 for emergencies only. Misusing the emergency system can waste valuable resources and cause harm to those in need.

The Coal City Police Department encourages residents to use 911 responsibly and reminds them that non-emergency calls should be made to the department’s non-emergency line. In the event of an emergency, residents should call 911 and provide accurate and concise information to the operator.

The case against Woycheck-Jablonski is still ongoing, and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
