Deanne Geiken, a 19-year-old aspiring singer and former Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School student, has made it to the blind audition round on NBC’s hit reality singing competition, “The Voice.” Geiken impressed judges and viewers alike with her rendition of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away.”
Geiken, who now resides in California with her aunt, made the decision to move in order to pursue greater opportunities in her vocal career. Her decision seems to have paid off, as she has made it to the second round of auditions, which have already been taped.
Geiken’s performance on “The Voice” has already garnered attention from her former classmates and community members in Paxton. The small town, located in east-central Illinois, has a population of just over 4,000 people.
Viewers can watch Geiken’s second audition on “The Voice” on Monday nights at 7 pm on NBC. Geiken’s journey on the show could potentially lead to the birth of a new star, and her former community in Paxton will be rooting for her every step of the way.
