Gas Scare at Grundy County Elementary School Prompts Evacuation of Students, Staff

Update: Morris Fire has give the all-clear, and students have returned to their normal day. 

Morris, IL – A mysterious natural gas odor coming from the kitchen area prompted an evacuation of Morris Elementary Wednesday afternoon.

According to Morris Police it happened sometime around 12:30 p.m. when authorities and Morris Elementary School District #54 when the smell of natural gas occurred.  The building was evacuated out of precaution and safety of students and staff.

Morris Fire Protection District was called to the scene and is currently evaluating the situation.
