CEDAR LAKE, Indiana — A harrowing crash on Saturday saw a white 2005 Chevy van collide with a tree on 10477 State Line Road. The four individuals inside, all from Chicago, faced a terrifying situation.

According to Lake County Sheriff’s Department reports, the female driver, 41, and a young 10-year-old girl experienced grave injuries, necessitating their extrication from the mangled van. Meanwhile, two males, 47 and 16 respectively, sustained less severe injuries but were also hospitalized.

Initial indications raise concerns as they suggest the kids might have been riding devoid of seatbelts or proper seating. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Reconstruction Unit is delving deeper into this distressing incident.
