Fire Crews Swiftly Contain Blaze at Former Indiana Grocery Store

HAMMOND — Gary fire crews swarmed the scene of a fire at the former Ultra Food Store located at 6010 West Ridge Road Saturday evening. 

The fire, which erupted in a rear structure of the building, was promptly contained thanks to the swift action of the firefighting units. Fortunately, their quick response prevented the flames from spreading to the interior of the structure.

Battling against the flames were Battalion Chief 9301, Engines 9810, 9410, and 8910, along with Truck 8720 and Investigator 8652.

The cause of the inferno remains shrouded in mystery, with investigators working diligently to ascertain its origin.
