LOWELL, Ind. – The Lowell Police Department is investigating a report of a suspicious person who approached children at a bus stop in the Indian Heights subdivision last week.
According to authorities, a thin white male between the ages of 50 and 60 with a bald head and gray beard drove up to the bus stop in a gray pickup truck around 7:30 a.m. The man asked the children for help with moving something before leaving the area.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Lake County 911 center’s non-emergency number at (219) 660-0000.
As a precautionary measure, additional patrols will be present during school bus pick-up and drop-off times. The investigation is ongoing.
Parents in the Indian Heights subdivision are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately. Children should also be reminded to avoid talking to strangers and to report any strange encounters.
